What happened

Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2017 Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, and Canyon Star vehicles built on Ford chassis with Antilock Brake Systems. The brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) on these vehicles may be missing valve block ball plugs, which can cause brake fluid to leak or allow air to enter the system during electronic brake distribution or ABS activation. This condition can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.

Newmar will notify owners, and Ford or Lincoln dealers will inspect the HECU for missing valve block ball plugs and replace the unit at no charge if necessary. The recall began on January 24, 2018. Affected owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300 (recall number 17V-768).
