What happened

Navistar is recalling certain IC Bus CE transit buses from model years 2011-2016 manufactured between July 1, 2010, and February 4, 2015, as well as one IC Bus BE transit bus manufactured on November 2, 2010. The vehicles are equipped with a water shutoff valve and formed heater hose near the driver's heater that can fatigue and split over time. When this occurs, hot pressurized coolant leaks into the driver's foot area, creating a risk of burn injuries or crashes.

To remedy this issue, Navistar dealers will replace the formed heater hose with a more robust one at no charge to owners. The recall began on January 4, 2017. Affected consumers should contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 16511 to arrange for the repair.
