What happened

Navistar is recalling certain IC Bus CE school buses from model years 2011-2016 manufactured between November 3, 2009, and February 26, 2015, and IC Bus BE school buses from model years 2012-2015 manufactured between August 2, 2010, and September 15, 2014. These vehicles have a formed heater hose located at a water shutoff valve inside and forward of the driver heater that may fatigue and split over time, causing hot pressurized coolant to leak into the driver's foot area and potentially resulting in burn injuries or a crash.

To remedy this issue, Navistar will notify owners and dealers will replace the formed heater hose with a more robust one at no cost. The recall began on January 4, 2017. Affected owners should contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 and reference recall number 16510 to arrange the replacement.
