BMW is recalling certain 2007-2012 BMW vehicles, including X5 and X6 models, certain Gran Turismo models, and certain sedan and convertible models. The vehicles have in-tank fuel pumps with insufficiently crimped wire contacts that may cause the connector to melt, resulting in a fuel leak. Additionally, the fuel pump may stop working, which could cause the engine to stall and increase the risk of a crash.
BMW will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the fuel pump module free of charge. The recall began in February 2017. Owners should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to arrange service for their vehicles.
