Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling certain 2002-2007 Lancer, 2004 Lancer Wagon, 2003-2006 Lancer Evolution, 2003-2006 Outlander, and 2007-2013 Outlander V-6 vehicles that were originally sold in or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, or the District of Columbia. The front lower control arms in these vehicles may detach due to corrosion of the front cross member caused by salt water exposure, such as from road salt. A detached front control arm can cause loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Owners will be notified by mail, and dealers will inspect the front cross members at no charge. Depending on the extent of corrosion found, dealers will either apply a sealing and anti-corrosion agent to the existing front cross member or replace it entirely with a new cross member that has a sealing and anti-corrosion agent applied. Affected owners may contact Mitsubishi Motors North America customer service at 1-888-648-7820 to schedule this repair, referencing recall number SR-16-003.
