BMW of North America is recalling certain 2011-2017 X3 and 2015-2017 X4 models manufactured between July 2010 and April 2016. The lower anchor bars used to secure child restraint seats may become damaged when using European-ISOFIX-type rigid connectors, which could increase the risk of child injury in a crash.
BMW will notify owners of the recall, which began on July 13, 2016. Dealers will weld a reinforcing bracket to the lower anchor bars and vehicle body at no charge. Owners of affected vehicles should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 to schedule the repair.
