What happened

Omix Ada, Inc. is recalling certain replacement steering sector shafts designed for early Willys and Jeep vehicles from 1941-1966 (CJ2a, CJ3a, Willys MB models) and 1950-1952 M38 military models that originally had Ross steering boxes. The affected shafts were manufactured between July 25, 2011, and October 14, 2016, and may have incomplete heat treatment that causes accelerated wear and premature failure of the steering sector shaft.

The premature failure of the steering sector shaft can cause loss of control and increase crash risk. Omix Ada will notify owners and replace the affected steering sector shafts free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2016. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Omix Ada customer service at 1-770-614-6101 and reference recall number RR1-16.
