What happened

Vega Helmet Corporation is recalling certain motorcycle half helmets, specifically models XTA and XTA Touring in sizes L, XL, and XXL that were manufactured between February 2013 and December 2014. These helmets may not provide adequate protection to the wearer's head in a crash and fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 218 for motorcycle helmets.

If you own an affected helmet, you should contact Vega helmet customer service at 1-800-728-4898. Vega will notify owners and provide either a full refund or a free replacement helmet.

Vega Helmet Corporation (Vega) is recalling certain motorcycle half helmets, models XTA and XTA Touring in sizes L, XL, and XXL, manufactured from February 2013 through December 2014. The affected helmets may not adequately protect the user's head in the event of an impact such as can happen during a crash. As such, these helmets fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
