STANLEY DATA TORQ AIR IMPACT WRENCHES; MAC DATA TORQ AIR IMPACT WRENCHES
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Stanley Assembly Technologies is recalling certain Mac Data Torq and Stanley Data Torq air-impact wrenches manufactured between September 23, 2015, and January 5, 2016. These computer-controlled tools are used to tighten vehicle lug nuts. The wrenches may contain a software error that causes them to produce more torque than the operator set, which can result in over-tightened lug nuts.
If lug nuts are over-tightened, the wheel attaching studs may fracture and cause the wheel to separate from the vehicle, creating a crash hazard. According to the record, affected consumers should contact SAT customer service at 1-614-876-3809. The company will notify purchasers and recalibrate the impact wrenches while correcting the software error.
