Daimler Trucks North America LLC is recalling certain 2015 model year Freightliner Business Class M2, 108SD, 114SD, 122SD, Coronado, Columbia Glider, Argosy Glider, Western Star 4700, and Western Star 4900 trucks manufactured between September 17, 2014, and November 10, 2014, that are equipped with Haldex Life Seal brake chambers. These vehicles may experience brake drag caused by an improperly seated diaphragm in the brake chamber, which could cause loss of vehicle control at highway speeds and increase the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, affected owners should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000 to arrange an inspection and repair of the diaphragm if necessary, which will be performed free of charge at authorized dealers. Owners were sent an interim notice on January 27, 2015, and the recall began on September 25, 2015. The recall number is FL-676.
