What happened

Land Rover is recalling certain 2014 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles and 2013-2014 LR4 models manufactured between September 16, 2013, and June 30, 2014. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System in these vehicles may fail to learn the locations of individual sensors while driving, causing the low tire pressure warning light to illuminate even when tire pressures are normal. If a tire subsequently loses air pressure, the driver would not be notified of this change, which could result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.

Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Body Control Module software at no charge to affected owners. The recall began on November 6, 2014. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9, and reference recall number P050.

Hazard

If the TPMS light illuminates because the sensors cannot be located, it could mask an actual low tire pressure condition, possibly resulting in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
