Coach and Equipment Mfg. Corp. is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Phoenix, Metro Lite, Pegasus, Condor LT, and Alley Cat transit buses manufactured between January 1, 2006, and September 18, 2014, that are equipped with specific Ricon Corporation wheelchair lift models (S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510). The platform side plates on these lifts may crack, which could cause the lift platform to separate from the lift and rest against the vehicle's lift door, creating a risk that the platform will fall out when the doors open and injure the lift operator.
To address this issue, Coach and Equipment will notify owners and have Ricon Corporation supply supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already begun cracking will be replaced at no cost. Owners should contact Coach and Equipment customer service at 1-800-724-8464 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884 to arrange for these repairs.
