Vanair Manufacturing is recalling certain 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 SuperDuty chassis that were modified by Vanair and equipped with specific Muncie Power Products PTO assemblies and air compressor systems. These vehicles have a defect where oil can leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket that covers the exhaust system. When the leaking oil combines with heat from the exhaust, it creates an increased risk of fire.
To fix this issue, dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system at no cost to the owner. The recall began in November 2014. If you own an affected vehicle, you should contact Vanair customer service at 1-800-526-8817.
