What happened

Cycle Gear, Inc. is recalling certain Street & Steel Brotherhood and Anarchy model motorcycle helmets manufactured between February 1, 2014, and February 28, 2014. The affected helmets have part number ST-222 and come in extra small, small, and medium sizes. These helmets may not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements for impact protection and penetration resistance, meaning they may not adequately protect the wearer's head in a crash.

Cycle Gear will replace the affected helmets free of charge. Owners should contact Cycle Gear customer service at 1-800-292-5343 to arrange the replacement. The recall began on December 19, 2014.

The affected part number is ST-222 and includes sizes extra small, small, and medium. These helmets may not meet the impact attenuation and penetration requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
