What happened

General Motors is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles manufactured between August 1, 2013, and September 10, 2013, that are equipped with manual reclining seatbacks. In these vehicles, the front seatbacks may have excessive movement, which means the head restraints may not properly protect occupants in a rear-end collision, potentially increasing the risk of injury.

GM has notified owners and dealers will inspect and adjust the seatback recliner mechanisms free of charge. The recall began October 23, 2013. Affected consumers should contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782 to schedule service. GM's recall number is 13323.
