Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
General Motors is recalling certain 2011-2012 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles with 1.4L turbo engines and 6-speed automatic transmissions. These vehicles have an electric vacuum pump that provides backup power to assist the brakes, but the pump may fail to activate in some cases. When this happens, drivers will lose braking assistance, meaning they'll need to press the brake pedal harder and may need more distance to stop the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
GM will fix this problem for free by replacing a microswitch in the power brake vacuum pipe assembly. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by the manufacturer. To schedule this repair or learn if your vehicle is included in the recall, contact Chevrolet at 1-800-1020 and reference recall number 12213.
