2014 GMC SIERRA; 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
General Motors is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado trucks manufactured between June 1 and June 30, 2013, and certain 2014 GMC Sierra trucks manufactured between June 4 and June 30, 2013. The passenger air bag module in these vehicles may not fully inflate due to a welding defect on the air bag inflator that can fracture during deployment, causing gas to escape behind the instrument panel instead of inflating the air bag properly. This increases the risk of injury to passengers.
General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module at no cost. The recall began on August 23, 2013. Owners of recalled Chevrolet vehicles should contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, and owners of recalled GMC vehicles should contact GMC at 1-866-996-9463. GM's recall number is 13230.
