General Motors is recalling certain 2005-2007 Saab 9-7x vehicles and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, and Isuzu Ascender models, as well as 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL models. Fluid can enter the driver's door module and cause corrosion that leads to a short circuit in the circuit board. This short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to work intermittently or stop working entirely. More seriously, the short can cause overheating that melts components in the door module, potentially resulting in odor, smoke, or fire—even when the vehicle is not in use.
To address this issue, owners will be contacted by their respective manufacturers (GM for Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC; Isuzu; and Saab) and asked to bring their vehicles to dealers for a free inspection. Dealers will test the driver's door module and either apply a protective coating if it is functioning properly or replace the module if it is not. Owners can contact their vehicle's manufacturer at the following numbers: Buick at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Isuzu at 1-800-255-6727, and Saab at 1-800-955-9007. As a precaution, owners are advised to park their vehicles outside until repairs are completed.
