Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2004-2007 Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles manufactured between March 24, 2003, and November 7, 2006, that are equipped with a third row seat and registered in specific northeastern and midwestern states plus the District of Columbia. The third row stowable seat can corrode and degrade at the anchor mechanism in the rear wheel wells, which may prevent the seat from fully latching into its seating position. If the vehicle is struck from behind while the seat is unlatched, this could increase the risk of personal injury.
Ford began notifying owners on March 28, 2013, and will install new third row seat latch striker mounting brackets at no cost to owners. Affected consumers should contact the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332 to arrange for the repair.
