SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC EVLINK

  • Brand SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Schneider Electric is recalling certain EVlink electric vehicle charging stations manufactured between August 13, 2012, and March 17, 2013. The affected models include various EV230 and EV240 series units. In these charging stations, the charger plug pin connectors may overheat and melt the thermoplastic casing around them, which can damage the vehicle inlet and charging station plug, and may cause burn injuries if someone touches the overheated casing.

Schneider Electric will provide a replacement cord-set at no charge, to be installed by a Schneider Electric representative or trained electrical contractor. Owner notification began in April 2013. Affected consumers should contact Schneider Electric at 1-877-283-7647 to arrange the replacement.

Hazard

In some cases, the generated heat is sufficient enough to cause damage to the car inlet, and/or damage to the charging station plug. This condition also may present a danger of burn if the user has direct contact with the overheated portion of the casing.

What should I do?

Schneider Electric will notify owners and a Schneider Electric representative or trained electrical contractor will install a new cord-set free of charge. Owner notification began during April 2013. Owners may contact Schneider Electric at 1-877-283-7647.
