What happened

Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp. is recalling certain Predator, Predator SS, Panther, and Panther II emergency vehicles manufactured between February 1, 2011, and February 28, 2013. These vehicles are equipped with Meritor axle assemblies with MGM J24 series air brake chambers that may leak pressure, causing the parking brake to drag when released. This brake dragging could lead to overheated brake components and result in a fire.

Kovatch will notify owners and replace the affected actuators at no charge, with the recall expected to begin in May 2013. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Kovatch at 1-570-669-5132.
