Champion Bus is recalling certain 2011 through 2013 model transit buses (CX300, CX340, CX380, and 3035RE models) built on Freightliner XB and XC custom chassis, manufactured between January 24, 2011, and November 7, 2012. The vehicles have connectors for diode jumpers that may come loose and create an open circuit, affecting two critical brake-related functions: the cruise control may fail to disengage when brakes are applied, and the brake lights may not illuminate when brakes are applied. These failures increase the risk of vehicle crashes.
Daimler Trucks (DTNA) will notify owners on behalf of Champion Bus, and Freightliner dealers will inspect the diode jumpers to ensure they are fully locked in place and make corrections as needed. The recall was expected to begin January 28, 2013.
