Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2012-2013 Freightliner trucks (models 108SD, Business Class M2, Cascadia, and Coronado) equipped with a Haldex quick release valve and manufactured between February 3, 2012, and March 2, 2012. The quick release valve cover may not be correctly manufactured, which could allow it to separate from the valve body. If separation occurs, the front brakes may not function, resulting in increased stopping distance and raising the risk of a crash.
Daimler Trucks will notify owners of the recall, which was expected to begin before June 15, 2012. Authorized Daimler Trucks service facilities will replace the quick release valve free of charge. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks North America at 1-800-547-0712 to arrange service.
