Yamaha Motor Corporation is recalling certain V Star 950 and V Star 1300 motorcycles due to a fuel system defect. The affected models include 2009-2012 V Star 950 and V Star 950 Tourer motorcycles manufactured from October 2008 through August 2011, and 2007 V Star 1300 and V Star 1300 Tourer motorcycles manufactured from August 2006 through March 2007. The problem stems from an improperly molded fuel hose that may not seal properly where it connects to the fuel pipes, which could allow pressurized fuel to leak over time.
The fuel leak poses a fire hazard. Yamaha dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe free of charge. To remedy this issue, owners should contact Yamaha at 1-800-962-7926 to be notified about the recall and to schedule service at an authorized Yamaha dealer.
