TransArctic is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 school buses equipped with Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporator units. The recalled units contain a Delphi fuse holder that may loosen due to time, temperature, and/or vibration, which can cause arcing. If sufficient arcing occurs, the fuse holder may melt and potentially produce flame, smoke, and fire.
Carrier will provide a retrofit kit and repair instructions free of charge to affected owners. Owners can contact Carrier at 1-800-793-4741 or TransArctic at 1-877-265-3247 to determine if their vehicle is affected. Owners should review the affected vehicle list available through the provided hyperlink to check if their bus is included in the recall.

TRANSARCTIC WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF RECORD WHO PURCHASED THE AFFECTED UNITS. TRANSARCTIC IS WORKING WITH THE BUS MANUFACTURERS AND CARRIER AUTHORIZED DEALERS TO IDENTIFY AND NOTIFY OWNERS OF THE BUSES WHICH MAY HAVE HAD THE AFFECTED EM-1 UNIT INSTALLED. CARRIER WILL PROVIDE A RETROFIT KIT ALONG WITH REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DURING JUNE 2011. TRANSARCTIC IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2011 SCHOOL BUSES EQUIPPED WITH CARRIER GENV EM-1 EVAPORATOR UNITS, PART NUMBERS 77-62112-XX AND 77-62512-XX, STARTING WITH SERIAL NUMBER KNT90890232 TO SERIAL NUMBER NNE91230058, MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 1, 2006, THROUGH DECEMBER 2010, CONTAINING A DELPHI PACK-CON III FUSE HOLDER IN AN ALLIED MOTION MOTOR ASSEMBLY. DUE TO TIME, TEMPERATURE, AND/OR VIBRATION, THE FUSE MAY LOOSEN IN THE FUSE HOLDER RESULTING IN HIGH RESISTANCE AND ARCING.
