Three laser pointer products have been recalled because they contain class 3A lasers that can cause eye damage. The hazard occurs when a direct laser beam or a beam reflected off a reflective surface strikes an unprotected eye. The products do not meet the European safety standard EN 60825 and should not be sold to consumers. The three recalled products are: a 3-in-1 blue laser and LED pen keyring (model MX-012) powered by three LR41 button cells; a 2-in-1 silver laser pointer and LED light keyring (model HC-101) powered by four AG13 button cells; and a 2-in-1 silver laser pointer and LED light keyring powered by three AG3 button cells.
Authorities have ordered the products to be withdrawn from the market and destroyed. The recall record does not specify what consumers who have purchased these products should do.
