California Innovations is recalling Ci Sport three-piece expandable lunch box sets that were sold at Costco. The sets include an insulated lunch box (available in navy blue, red, black, or denim blue), an aluminum bottle, and a freezer gel pack. The lunch box measures 8 by 5 by 10.25 inches and has a product code "1-61731-99-57" printed on white labels inside the main compartment. The gel pack is a 6-inch by 4-inch transparent pouch filled with blue liquid and labeled "Cryofreeze" and "Ice Pack/Hot Pack."
The freezer gel packs in these sets contain diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol, which can leak if the packs are damaged and pose a poisoning hazard if ingested. According to the recall, consumers should immediately stop using the gel packs and dispose of them according to federal, state, and local regulations by contacting their local waste disposal authority for instructions. Consumers may return the entire lunch box set to Costco for a full refund or contact California Innovations to receive a $5 cash refund for the gel pack only.
