What happened

Alliance Chemical is recalling sodium hydroxide products sold in a 2-pound white plastic bottle with a continuous thread closure cap and a 5-pound clear bag because the packaging does not meet child resistant packaging requirements under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, and the labels do not comply with Federal Hazardous Substance Act labeling rules. The products contain sodium hydroxide, a caustic chemical that can cause chemical burns and irritation to skin and eyes.

According to the recall notice, consumers who have purchased these products should immediately store them in a safe location out of sight and reach of children. Consumers should contact Alliance Chemical for a free replacement child resistant packaging and label to put on the product. Alliance Chemical is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Hazard
