Spot LLC is recalling its Satellite Communicator due to a defect in the internal voltage regulator that can cause the device to stop working and prevent users from transmitting emergency messages and tracking information when needed. The recalled device is a black satellite communicator with the SPOT logo and DeLorme branding, measuring 3 inches by 2.6 inches. It is sometimes bundled with a DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS device, though the GPS itself is not affected by this recall.
The defective units have Electronic Serial Numbers (ESN) ranging from 0-2000000 to 0-2019999, which can be found on a label under the battery. According to the recall notice, consumers with an affected Satellite Communicator should stop using the product immediately and contact Spot LLC for a free replacement.

The satellite communicator tracks the user's location and sends the user's GPS coordinates and a distress message in the case of an emergency. The device is black with the SPOT logo and the word DeLorme on the front. It measures 3 inches x 2.6 inches and is bundled with the DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS. The GPS is not subject to this recall. Affected products have Electronic Serial Numbers (ESN) from 0-2000000 to 0-2019999. The ESN is located on a label under the battery.
