What happened

Briggs & Stratton is recalling Craftsman riding mowers (model 107.28034) that were sold exclusively at Sears. These black, rear engine mounted mowers left the factory with the side discharge chute not fully secured. If the bolts are not properly tightened, they can be forcefully discharged from the mower, creating an injury hazard to users and bystanders.

The recall affects mowers with specific serial numbers produced between 2014 and 2014. Consumers who own one of these mowers should stop using it immediately and contact Sears to schedule a free inspection and repair. Sears is sending letters to affected consumers with instructions on how to arrange service.
