Graco Recalls Quattro™ and MetroLite™ Strollers Due to Risk of Entrapment and Strangulation

Is my product affected?

Graco Quattro Tour™ and MetroLite™ strollers and travel systems

  • Brand Graco Children's Products Inc., of Atlanta, Ga.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Graco has recalled certain Quattro Tour and MetroLite stroller models due to a hazard where an infant can become entrapped between the stroller tray and seat bottom, with risk of strangulation at the neck. The recall affects Quattro strollers manufactured before November 2006 and MetroLite strollers manufactured before July 2007, which were distributed between November 2000 and December 2007. Model numbers are located on a label at the lower rear frame above the rear wheels or underneath the stroller, with the name "Graco" appearing on the tray and headrest labels.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and contact Graco for a free repair kit. The strollers can continue to be used safely as travel systems when used with the infant car seat attached, as this eliminates the entrapment and strangulation hazard created by the gap between the tray and seat.

Hazard

An infant can pass through the opening between the stroller tray and seat bottom, but his/her head and neck can become entrapped by the tray. Infants who become entrapped at the neck are at risk of strangulation.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and contact Graco for a free repair kit. Consumers can continue use of the stroller as a "travel system." When the stroller is used with the infant car seat, the entrapment and strangulation hazards posed by the space gap are not present.
