What happened

Frigidaire and Electrolux ICON electric smoothtop cooktops and Frigidaire slide-in ranges with rotary knobs and digital displays are being recalled because liquids can pool under the control knob, causing the surface heating element to turn on unexpectedly, heat to incorrect temperatures, and fail to turn off. This creates a fire and burn hazard. The recall affects specific model and serial numbers, which can be identified on a label inside the oven door or on the underside of cooktop models.

Consumers who own affected units should immediately stop using them and either unplug the ranges or power off cooktops at the circuit breaker. Affected consumers should contact Electrolux to obtain a free repair kit.
