Lawn and garden tractors
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
John Deere is recalling models X710, X730, X734, X738, and X739 lawn and garden tractors with serial numbers beginning with 1M0X. These green and yellow tractors with yellow rims have a defective reverse implement option (RIO) safety system that can fail. The RIO system is designed to shut off power to the mower blades when the tractor is placed in reverse, and when it fails, it creates a laceration hazard to bystanders. The model number can be found on both sides of the engine hood, and the serial number is located on the right side below the foot rest.
According to the recall, affected consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tractors and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair. John Deere is contacting all registered owners of the recalled tractors directly. A complete list of serial numbers included in this recall is available on the firm's website.
