HP is recalling lithium-ion batteries with Panasonic cells used in HP and Compaq notebook computers due to a fire and burn hazard caused by battery overheating. The recalled batteries are compatible with HP, Compaq, HP ProBook, HP ENVY, Compaq Presario, and HP Pavilion notebook computers. The black batteries measure approximately 8 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch high, with "HP Notebook Battery" and a model number printed on them. The batteries included in this recall have one of the following barcodes: 6BZLU, 6CGFK, 6CGFQ, 6CZMB, 6DEMA, 6DEMH, 6DGAL, or 6EBVA.
Consumers with affected batteries should immediately stop using them and remove them from their notebook computers. According to the record, affected consumers should contact HP to receive a free replacement battery.
