Is my product affected?

Lithium-ion batteries used in HP and Compaq notebook computers

  • Brand Hewlett-Packard Company, of Palo Alto, Calif.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

HP has expanded a recall of lithium-ion batteries used in various HP and Compaq notebook computers because the batteries can overheat and rupture, creating fire and burn hazards. The recalled batteries were used in multiple notebook model series including HP Pavilion, HP G-series, Compaq Presario, and HP Compaq 6000-series models. Some of these batteries were previously announced as not included in earlier recalls, so consumers who checked their batteries before should check again.

Consumers who believe they have an affected computer should immediately remove the battery and contact HP to determine if their battery is included in the recall by checking the notebook model number on the service label on the bottom of the computer and matching it against the battery bar codes listed in the recall announcement. Consumers with recalled batteries will receive a free replacement, and they may continue using their notebook computers with the AC adapter while waiting for the replacement to arrive.
