Technical Consumer Products is recalling Connected Brand 5-inch and 6-inch LED Downlight retrofits due to a potential electrical shock hazard. The internal wiring in these downlights can contact the metal trim, creating a risk of shock to consumers. The affected downlights are white and produce either soft white (2700 Kelvin) or bright white (5000 Kelvin) light. They bear item number "CD611LC" and specific date codes (1410210, 1424217, 1428217, 1439217, 1444217, or 1451217) printed on the black base of the lamp.
To determine if you have an affected downlight, you will need to turn off power to the lights and remove the lamp to check the item number and date code on the black base. According to the recall, affected consumers should immediately contact TCP to receive a free replacement lamp with installation instructions. Consumers should not touch the lamp while it is powered.
