Video Baby Monitors with Electrical Cords
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Summer Infant is recalling video baby monitors with electrical cords that were distributed between January 2003 and February 2011. The recall affects more than 40 different models of handheld, digital, and color video monitors sold under the "Summer" brand. The cords present a strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers if placed too close to a crib, and two strangulation deaths have been reported.
According to the recall notice, affected consumers should immediately check the location of their video monitors and all electrical cords to ensure the cords are out of arm's reach of their child. Parents and caregivers should never place these corded cameras within three feet of a crib. Consumers should contact Summer Infant to receive a new permanent electric cord warning label about the strangulation risk and revised instructions on how to safely mount the camera while keeping cords out of the child's reach.
