What happened

Summer Infant is recalling rechargeable batteries used in its handheld color video monitors because the batteries can overheat and rupture, creating a burn hazard. The affected batteries are approximately 1½ inches tall by 2¼ inches wide and ¼ inch thick, are black, and marked with "TCL" on the lower right corner. The recalled batteries have serial numbers beginning with JNN-S150A, JNS150-BA, JNS150A, JNN-S150B, JNS150-BB, JNN-S150C, or JNS150-BC. The recall affects multiple monitor models including Baby Touch®, Best View®, Complete Coverage®, Dual Coverage™, MultiView™, Peek® Plus, Private Label Baby Sight, Safe Sight™, Secure Sight®, Sleek and Secure®, and Slim and Secure® models with various model numbers.

According to the recall notice, affected consumers should remove the battery from their monitor and contact Summer Infant for a replacement battery. The monitor can continue to be used with the AC power cord and power adapter during this process.

The recall involves rechargeable batteries in Summer Infant handheld color video monitors. The rechargeable batteries are about 1 ½" tall by 2 ¼" wide and are ¼" thick, black, and are marked with TCL on the lower right corner of the battery. Monitors are sold with a matching camera and A/C adaptors.
