What happened

GE and Professional Series brand portable dehumidifiers are being recalled due to a component in the compressor that can short circuit and create a fire hazard. The recall involves 30-pint and 40-pint models manufactured between November 2006 and August 2007, and during April 2008. The dehumidifiers are white with front-loading water buckets and have "GE" or "Professional Series" branding with digital controls on top. Specific model numbers affected are GE AHK30LK, AHW30LK, AHM30LK, AHK40LK, AHH40LK, and AHM40LK, as well as CEM Professional Series model PS78303, with certain serial number ranges listed in the recall.

According to the recall notice, affected consumers should immediately stop using their dehumidifiers and contact Midea to confirm whether their product is included in the recall.
