Homelite is recalling certain chain saws because the chain brake can fail to stop the chain on its first application, which poses a risk of laceration. The recall affects eight Homelite chain saw models: UT10514, UT10516, UT10517, UT10518, UT10520, UT10540, UT10560, and UT10918 manufactured between November 2007 and August 2008. The model number and manufacture date appear on the data plate located beneath the rear handle. Chain saws with a green "dot" sticker on the underside of the handle and on the outside of the package are not included in this recall.
Consumers with affected chain saws should immediately stop using them and contact Homelite Consumer Products to find the nearest authorized service center to schedule a free repair. The manufacturer will repair the chain brake issue at no cost to the consumer.

Products with a green "dot" sticker under the bottom side of the handle area and on the outside of the package are not subject to this recall.
