Cybex International Recalls Treadmills Due to Fall Hazard; Can Speed Up Unexpectedly

What happened

Cybex International is recalling certain 115V treadmill models (445T, 455T, 530T, 450T, 500T, 515T, 520T, and 550T) because a malfunction in the lower control board can cause the treadmill to speed up unexpectedly while in use, creating a fall hazard. The affected treadmills are black and gray machines with rectangular uprights; the 220V models are not included in this recall. You can identify a recalled model by checking for "Cybex" and the model number printed on the console's display panel.

If you own one of these treadmills, you should immediately unplug it and stop using it. Contact Cybex to receive a free replacement fuse, and you can request that a Cybex technician install the fuse at no charge. Cybex is directly contacting known purchasers about this recall.

This recall involves 115V ONLY Cybex 445T, 455T, 530T, 450T, 500T, 515T, 520T, and 550T treadmills. The 220V model treadmills are not involved in this recall. The treadmills are black and gray with rectangular uprights. The 530T style treadmill is 81 inches long by 32 inches wide. The 445T style treadmill is 72 inches long by 32 inches wide. The treadmills have a display panel on a console as wide as the treadmill. "Cybex" and the model number are written on the console.
