Holmes Products Corp. is recalling certain "Wide-Angle" portable heaters manufactured in 1998 due to a fire hazard. These half-circle shaped heaters, approximately 12 inches high, have improperly positioned thermostats that can cause them to overheat. The recalled units are white on the front and gray on the back, with two knobs on top, and can be identified by a date code containing "98" on the back right corner near the UL logo that reads "MODEL: HFH-297" and "MADE IN CHINA," with "Holmes(r)" marked on the unit.
If you own one of these heaters, you should immediately stop using it and contact Holmes for instructions on obtaining a refund.

These "Wide-Angle," portable heaters, manufactured in 1998, are approximately 12 inches high, and are in the shape of a half-circle. The front is white, and the back is gray. The units have two knobs on the top. The date code, which includes the number 98, is located on the back, right-hand corner of the units just above the box containing the Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) logo. Other writing inside the UL box includes, "MODEL: HFH-297" and "MADE IN CHINA." "Holmes(r)" also is written in the UL box and on the front of the unit.
