Prescolite Inc. is recalling trim assembly kits for recessed light fixtures due to a safety hazard. The heat from light bulbs can cause the plastic trim to soften and melt, which may cause the trim and lens to fall from the fixture. This falling debris poses a risk of laceration injuries to people below. The recalled trim assemblies include a 7 3/4-inch white plastic ring, glass lens, and metal reflector, and were primarily installed in bathroom ceilings. The affected models are TL60 and TL62, which were made in China. The model number and country of manufacture can be found on a sticker inside and outside the reflector. Trim kits made in Mexico are not affected by this recall.
According to the recall notice, consumers who have these fixtures should immediately stop using them and contact Prescolite to arrange for installation of a replacement trim ring.
