Coby Electronics is recalling certain boombox models due to a fire hazard. The affected units are portable CD/MP3 players with AM/FM radio and USB connectivity, primarily white with silver-colored speakers and labeled "COBY" on the front and "DIGITAL" on the top. The model number is MP-CD475. These boomboxes can overheat and catch fire if left plugged into an electrical outlet when the off switch is not firmly in place.
The recalled units have specific serial number ranges located on the rear of the unit beneath the AC power cord outlet: 0736000001 through 0736005000, 0816000001 through 0816005300, and 0826000001 through 0826003500.
