What happened

SRAM Corp. is recalling SRAM Force Road Brake Calipers sets because the brake caliper sets could break and detach from a bicycle's fork or frame, potentially causing the rider to lose control and crash. The recall involves aftermarket brake caliper sets sold between July 2006 and March 2007. Affected units have "SRAM Force" embossed on them and either a date code between 01JUN06 and 25DEC06 or a production code beginning with 35T6 through 51T6. The brake caliper sets may also have been installed on bicycles from manufacturers including Specialized, Trek, Fuji, Scott USA, Bianchi, Kuota, Orbea, Kestrel, Titus, and Sampson.

According to the recall notice, consumers should stop using bicycles equipped with these brake caliper sets immediately and contact their bicycle retailer for a free replacement.
