What happened

Intex Recreation Corp. is recalling 42-inch, 48-inch, and 52-inch "A" frame pool ladders sold with above-ground pools under the brand names Intex®, Easy Set®, and Sand N Sun™. The recalled ladders were sold with pools in the following sizes: 15 feet by 42 inches, 15 feet by 48 inches, 16 feet by 42 inches, 16 feet by 48 inches, 18 feet by 48 inches, and 24 feet by 52 inches. These ladders have two-piece legs joined by metal sleeves and feature three or four blue plastic steps on each side attached to blue plastic support brackets. The hazard is that the plastic steps can be assembled backward on the support brackets, which can cause the steps to break and result in a fall.

Consumers who have these ladders should immediately stop using them and contact Intex to obtain information about how to obtain a free replacement ladder. Ladders with single-piece legs or two-piece legs with a 300 lb. weight limit listed on the warning label (sold after February 2007) are not included in this recall.

The recall includes 42-inch, 48-inch, and 52-inch "A" frame pool ladders. The ladders were sold with above ground pools with the brand names "Intex®," "Easy Set®" and "Sand N Sun™" in the following sizes: 15 feet by 42 inches, 15 feet by 48 inches, 16 feet by 42 inches, 16 feet by 48 inches, 18 feet by 48 inches, 24 feet by 52 inches. Each leg of the recalled ladder has two pieces joined together with a metal sleeve. The ladders have either three or four blue plastic steps on each side of the "A" that attach to blue plastic support brackets mounted on the legs. The following pool ladders are not included in the recall: "A" frame ladders with single piece legs "A" frame ladders with two-piece legs and a 300 lb. weight limit listed on the ladder warning label (sold with pools after February 2007).
