What happened

Kyocera Wireless Corp. is recalling cell phone batteries that may be counterfeit and included in Kyocera Slider, K400, and 3200 Series cell phones. The counterfeit batteries can short-circuit and overheat, creating a burn hazard to consumers. The affected batteries are identified by specific model numbers (CV90-L305N-01, CV90-L305P-01, CV90-L305T-01, CV90-L349T-01, CV90-K3040-03, CV90-K3040-09, CV90-K3040-10, and CV90-K3040-11) and can be distinguished by the Kyocera name printed in red and black or red and white along with the model number.

Consumers with recalled batteries should immediately stop using them and store the batteries with non-flammable materials. Kyocera will contact consumers directly to arrange free replacement batteries. If consumers have not been contacted by Kyocera, they should call the company to receive a free replacement battery.
