Is my product affected?

Jardine drop-side cribs

  • Brand Jardine Enterprise Ltd., of Taipei, Taiwan
  • Brand Toys "R" Us, of Wayne, N.J.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Jardine has recalled all of its drop-side cribs because the drop sides can malfunction, detach, or fail, creating spaces where infants or toddlers can become wedged, entrapped, or strangled. Drop-side failures can occur due to manufacturing defects, incorrect assembly, or age-related wear and tear, and can also result in children falling out of the crib. The recalled models include various styles such as Olympia, Capri, Claremont, Convertible, Madison, Siera, Hampton, and Windsor cribs manufactured between 2000 and 2009.

Consumers who own a recalled Jardine drop-side crib should immediately stop using it and contact Jardine to receive a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. Until the repair is completed, consumers should place their child in an alternate safe sleep environment such as a bassinet, play yard, or toddler bed appropriate for the child's age. The crib model number and date code can be found on labels attached to one of the crib's end panels to help identify if your crib is among those recalled.

Hazard

The cribs' drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Jardine to receive a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on your child's age
