Evenflo Recalls to Repair Drop-Side Cribs Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards

Is my product affected?

Jenny Lind Cribs

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Evenflo has recalled specific models of its Jenny Lind drop-side cribs because the drop sides can malfunction, detach, or fail, creating spaces where infants or toddlers can become wedged, entrapped, or strangled. These incidents can occur due to manufacturing defects, incorrect assembly, or wear and tear over time. Children may also fall out of the crib as a result. The affected models include various Jenny Lind crib styles in maple, white, oak, and natural finishes, with model numbers starting in 012, 014, 015, or 016 (the model number can be found on a label on the bottom beam of the headboard).

If you have one of the recalled cribs, you should immediately stop using it and contact Evenflo to receive a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. Consumers with model numbers starting with 012 and 014 that were manufactured between 2000 and 2004 can also request a repair kit for the mattress support system. Until the repair is completed, you should use an alternate safe sleep environment for your child, such as a bassinet, play yard, or toddler bed appropriate for the child's age.

Hazard

The cribs' drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled drop-side cribs and contact Evenflo to receive a free repair kit that will immobilize the drop side. A repair kit for the mattress support system is also available for cribs with model numbers starting with 012 and 014 that were manufactured between 2000 and 2004. In the meantime, find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on the child's age
