Inc. has recalled 7 1/4-inch circular saws, model number 5740NB, due to a hazard where the lower blade guard can become jammed, potentially allowing consumers to come into contact with the blade and suffer serious injury. The model number can be found on the silver nameplate next to the "Makita" name. The saw has blue-green housing with "Makita" printed on the metal blade guard and silver nameplate on the motor housing. Saws with an "N" preceding the serial number on the nameplate and a blue dot on the shipping carton are excluded from this recall.
Consumers who own a recalled circular saw should stop using it immediately and return it to the nearest Makita factory service center for a free repair.
